Chinook took it to Simms in football on Wednesday night, defeating the Tigers by the final score of (58-7). The Beeters scored their third-most points of the season and were able to keep Simms off the scoreboard until the early stages of the third quarter.
Backup quarterback Patrick McKenzie had himself a night, throwing for five touchdowns and rushing for another. He also added a two-point conversion. Carson Nissen caught the first touchdown of the night, a 48-yarder that went for yards after the catch. McKenzie then found Jacob Metcalf on back-to-back possessions from 13 and 41 yards out, respectively.
The touchdown streak stopped momentarily with Oliver Standiford scoring a 35-yard run in the second quarter. After Chinook failed to score on a sixth straight drive, Nissen ended up picking off Simms quarterback Joseph Feist to give the ball back to the Beeters.
Then, McKenzie got back to his air raid with a 50-yard strike to Jameson Nordboe and Chinook took a (38-0) lead into the break. The sophomore quarterback added one more touchdown to Zeke Sanders in the second half after Standiford ran it in from 60 yards out to begin the second half.
Chinook improves to (6-2) on the season and will go down to Fort Benton on Oct. 25 for a game that could have seeding implications with the Longhorns having a one-game lead on them in the win column.
