The Chinook Football team is coming off of a (46-8) defeat at the hands of Belt last Friday to open the season at home. New Media Broadcasters spoke with head coach Mikes Jones and he said there was a lot to take out of the first half on film and that would be an emphasis as the next game looms.
“Fundamentals,” Jones said. “Sometimes, we get caught up in doing too much. (Going) back to those fundamentals and make sure us coaches are teaching those and make sure we execute those, blocking and tackling at a high level.”
“Belt is a pretty good team, but our kids I think got a lot from that film, and (it) was really positive in that first half,” Jones continued.
The attention now turns to Cascade, where the Sugarbeeters will be traveling to for their upcoming matchup. The Badgers shut out Rocky Boy, (56-0) to begin their campaign. Coach Jones said what has come out of this week’s practices that they can take in order to try and take down Cascade on their turf.
“We said, ‘Hey, what can you learn from this (Belt) results?’ And it was, ‘Hey, we gotta pick up on the fundamentals,'” Jones said. “That’s been an emphasis in practice this week.”
“Those fundamentals, hopefully we can execute within our game plan going into Cascade here,” Jones continued.
The (0-1) Sugarbeeters and (1-0) Badgers will hit the gridiron for 8-man football action under the Lights in Cascade on Friday night.
