Chinook Football Lost Its Way and Is Learning from It Ahead of Harlem Game

It was night and day for Chinook football’s most recent game, which was played last week at home against Choteau. Leading (18-6) at halftime, the Bulldogs came back to score 28 unanswered points to topple the Beeters. Head coach Mikes Jones told New Media Broadcasters that his team is still young and that showed on the field that night.

“We played without a lead,” Jones said. “We showed some youth there in the second half, (whereas) we came out and executed the gameplan amazingly in the first half.”

“In the second half, I think we had some expectations that the game was kind of over instead of finishing the gameplan,” Jones continued. “I think it was a good learning experience for our kids, though.”

Chinook has to pick up the pieces quickly and get right before heading the 23 miles east to play Harlem. Jones said what the message has been to his team as they try to work on getting back in the win column.

“Finish each drive. Whether it’s offensively or defensively, you’ve got to finish the drive,” Jones said. “That is going to lead through the fourth quarter, so you can’t just play a half of football.”

“You can’t just play one side. You’ve got to play all four quarters and all three sides of the ball,” Jones continued. “Finish each drive with great excellence and fundamentals.”

Chinook and Harlem will duel it out for the battle of Blaine County on Friday night. Noah Friedman will be traveling to call the game for KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com with kickoff scheduled for 7pm.
