Chinook girls’ basketball got off to a good start for 2024-25, beating Cut Bank this past Friday night by the final score of (64-37). New Media Broadcasters spoke with head coach Mike Seymour, who gave his impressions of the team on the court for the first time this season.
“Early in the game, I felt we were a little tentative, standing around (and) waiting for someone else to do something,” Seymour said. “As the game progressed (and) throughout that fourth quarter, I thought our stamina and our experience kicked in and we were able to open up that big lead.”
Now, the Lady Beeters will be in Shelby for the Coyote Classic, taking place Friday and Saturday. Seymour said what he wants to see generally speaking from his team against both Eureka and Belt.
“I’d like to see us come out with that defensive intensity that we had late in the third quarter and throughout the start of the fourth quarter at the beginning of (these) ball games,” Seymour said. “Offensively, we need to look to attack the basket (and) not always settle for trying to find somebody else to do something.”
The girls’ basketball team from Chinook is the first team on court on Friday with the girls’ tipping off around 10:30am against Eureka, followed by Saturday’s affair with Belt around 4:30pm.
