The success of a season is marked by what you bring home. The Chinook Lady Sugarbeeters basketball team brought the first of what they hope is three postseason trophies as they came back to win against Fairfield on Saturday night in the District 1B championship game. New Media Broadcasters broke down the successes with head coach Mike Seymour, who said belief got them over the hump against their rival.
“I have a great group of kids. I thought they just believed in themselves,” Seymour said. “They believe in me (and) the coaching staff and they believe in themselves.”
“If we just stuck to what we were doing and what our gameplan was that things would work out and hopefully good things happen for you,” Seymour continued.
It’s on to an even more crowded field for the Northern ‘B’ tournament this week. Seymour reminded his girls that this is a field of good teams and there can be no more lapses in play.
“We talked to the girls and at this point in time in the season, there aren’t any bad teams,” Seymour said. “These are all quality teams that are at the Northern ‘B’ Divisional.”
“We’re excited for the opportunity to see where we’re at,” Seymour continued. “We’re excited to roll the ball out and play and see what happens. We’re excited!”
Chinook girls’ basketball will play on Thursday around 1pm against Harlem for the opening game of the Northern ‘B’ Divisional tournament in Malta. KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com will have you covered every step of the way for Sugarbeeter basketball this week.
