(NMB) Hallie Neibauer and Alexus Seymour scored 22 and 15 points respectively and the Chinook girls basketball team stayed unbeaten with a 49-42 win over Fairfield on Thursday night. Both teams came out strong offensively in quarter number one scoring 18 points each. It was a defensive battle for the next three quarters, but the Beeters outscored the Eagles 31 to 24 in the final three quarters to remain unbeaten and stay the top team in the 1B conference. The Eagles were led by Toryn Martinez who scored 15 points in the game but only had 1 point in the second half.
In the boys contest Chinook fell behind 23-7 after one quarter. The second quarter was all Chinook as they outscored the Eagles 19 to 9 and trailed 32 26 at the half. Fairfield tock control of the game in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Chinook 22 to 9 and cruised to the 65 to 46 victory.
Chinook will be on the road Saturday as they travel to Cutbank for a pair of games with the Wolves. Tip times are scheduled for 4:00pm and 5:30pm and both games can be heard on 101.3fm KRYK.
