(Chinook) – The Chinook Police Department is hosting an active shooter simulation for law enforcement this week. Chinook Police Chef Elmer Zarn explains why this simulation is important in rural communities.
“If something goes down at the High School in Chinook, Montana, I’m working by myself, I will be the first one to respond. I may have two people from the Sherriff’s office that are in the office that could respond with me. So, three people to search and control that whole school is a little tough to do. Where if I have trained officers from FWP, Montana Livestock, Highway Patrol, Border Patrol, whoever I can get hold of to come and help and we’re all trained together and know what the other person is going to do, it’s going to make the situation go a lot smoother.”
The active shooter simulation begins today with classroom training and moves to Chinook High School on Friday and Saturday for on-site training.
