CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – A 19-year-old male was killed Saturday evening in a single-vehicle crash on a dirt road north of Chinook.

The Montana Highway Patrol received a report of the fatal crash at 10:10 PM Saturday evening.

According to MHP Trooper Matt Erickson, a Ford Crown Victoria was traveling westbound on Redrock Road when the vehicle drifted off the right shoulder into a borrow ditch, tripped in soft dirt, and rolled at least 1.5 times before landing upside-down and perpendicular to the road.

The driver, a 21-year-old male, and back seat passenger, a 17-year-old male, both from Chinook, were uninjured.

The front-seat passenger, a 19-year-old male from Chinook, was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

Excessive speed and alcohol are suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
