Chippewa Cree Business Committee Announces Winner of Special Election

Rocky Boy, Mont. (NMB) – The Chippewa Cree Business Committee has announced the winning candidate of the special election held Feb 25.

Jody LaMere was voted in to fill the vacant seat on the committee. LaMere came out on top with 119 votes and will keep the seat until the term ends in November 2022.

The next closest candidate for the seat was Loni Whitford-Taylor who received 107 votes and candidate Emery “Paco” Nault who received 104 votes.

The seat was originally held by Michael Corcoran, 45, who passed away earlier this year from what is believed to be natural causes.
