HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The construction of the new Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Hall is nearing the final stretch
Fire Chief Josh Bebee says crews started standing the building up this past Thursday, and it should be finished in the coming weeks, allowing for a central location for the department’s vehicles to be stored.
“It’s going to mean a lot for the department. It’s a place where we can gather for our meetings and call our own, I think that really does help out with the morale and the interest of being a volunteer, when you actually have a place you can kind of call home as a group.”
Bebee says the building of the new hall has been years in the making and has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the community, but they remain about $70,000 short of being able to fully fund the project.
“We tried our best to purchase as much materials as we could early with inflation and the cost and prices of materials and everything going up. We did our best to buy as we could and sotre it, which we did a good job on. But to 10 percent finish this thing, have a little meeting room and stuff like that, we’re going to be about $70,000 short right now as we sit. So we’re still going to be pushing some fundraisers and what-not. But it’s coming along.”
The new building is located along the Beaver Creek Highway just south of Havre.
