HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Cottonwood Bridge in northern Hill County is in need of repair or replacement, according to the County Commission.
The bridge, located on Cottonwood Road west of the Wild Horse Highway, is the only bridge in Hill County north of Fresno Dam that crosses the Milk River.
County Commissioner Jake Strissel says the bridge, which currently has an 8,000 pound weight limit has four stringers in need of replacement.
The County is currently working with Bear Paw Development and Great West Engineering to develop a plan to either repair or replace the bridge.
The Commission says construction could still be several years away, and a complete replacement may cost upwards of $4 million.
Some of the funding could come from grant from the state, but the county might end up on the hook for the majority of the costs of the project if the bridge need to be replaced.
