Crash on Saturday caused by reckless driver, debris not causing any outages.

(Havre) Early rising Havre residents may have noticed an increased police and fire engine presence near the Town Pump on the cities west end on Saturday morning, and those visiting since then might have seen why: A telephone pole split nearly in half near the bottom, and it’s top leaning against power and telephone cables.

According to Havre Fire and Havre Police Department, this happened in the early hours of the morning on Satuday, around 4 or 5 am. A driver backed into the pole, breaking it, and then left without reporting the incident. HPD says that they’ve since been charged with failure to report an incident and reckless driving, but no DUI charges were applicable.

New Media Broadcasters also spoke with representatives from NorthWestern Energy, who say that the pole’s leaning on the cables is not causing any service interruptions.
