CARBON COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The 4,100 acre Crooked Creek Fire burning in the Pryor Mountains 25 miles east of the town of Bridger is up to 84 percent containment, with 63 personnel on the scene.
There was one new fire start in the area recently due to lightning, but it was extinguished shortly after it started. Crews are patrolling the area to ensure that lightning didn’t spark any other new fires within the perimeter.
The one area of the fire that is not contained is an inaccessible spot for ground crews around Punch Bowl Creek. This area will continue to be monitored, with appropriate action being taken as necessary.
As of Wednesday morning, the Bureau of Land Management is assuming command of the fire from the Northern Rockies Incident Management team.
