(Washington D.C.) – A new bill aimed at cutting government red tape for environmental restoration projects is heading to the House of Representatives after passing the United States Senate.
Sponsored by Montana Senator Steve Daines, the Floodplain Enhancement and Recovery Act targets the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s “No Rise” rule.
Daines says the rule has forced many communities to abandon critical conservation projects due to high costs. The new legislation fast-tracks low-risk ecosystem work while maintaining strict local safety and flood protections. The bill now awaits action in the House.
