(Washington DC) – United States Senator Steve Daines recently introduced the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act a bipartisan bill created to ensure that legal cannabis businesses have access to banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions. As it stands, many legal cannabis businesses must conduct all of their business entirely in cash leaving the door open to theft, tax evasion and organized crime.
Daines said regarding this bill, ” Montanans should be able to conduct their small businesses without fearing for their safety, our bipartisan bill would provide security and piece of mind that legal Montana cannabis businesses need to freely use banks, credit unions and other financial products without fear of punishment.”
This act has also recently gained the support of Senator John Tester joining the bipartisan group to help push the act through.
