Daines, Tester Express Disapproval of Lifting of Brazilian Beef Ban

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NMB) – Both of Montana’s U.S. Senators are expressing their disapproval of the United States Department of Agriculture’s decision to lift a ban on the import of Brazilian beef.

Tester and Daines both argue that Brazilian beef has consistently failed U.S. import standards and are concerned about food safety.

Tester and Daines joined 11 other Senators in writing a letter to USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue to officially express their concerns and are asking for a prompt response by March 10.

Montana beef production is approximately a $1.7 billion industry.
