Gianforte, Daines, Tester Slam Putin for Russian Invasion of Ukraine

WASHINGTON D.C. (NMB) – In separate press releases on Thursday, Montana Republican Governor Greg Gianforte and U.S. Senators, Democrat Jon Tester and Republican Steve Daines, slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine.

All three condemned the attack as unprovoked and said that they stand with the people of Ukraine.

However, Republican Congressman Matt Rosendale’s statement was completely different. Rosendale did not condemn Russia’s actions, instead stating that he believes Americans care more about local border security and adding that the U.S. has “no legal or moral obligation to come to the aid of either side in this foreign conflict.”

Gianforte said it is an “egregious act of war,” and that the U.S. and “our democratic allies should respond immediately with sweeping, strict, and comprehensive sanctions against Russia.”

Tester called the actions by Russia “illegal,” stating that the U.S. “will continue to support the security and stability of our NATO and European allies in the face of these acts of war.”

Daines called Putin a “thug” and claimed that he has been emboldened due to the Biden administration withdrawing from Afghanistan and killing the Keystone XL Pipeline. He added that the importance of “made in America energy” has increased due to these actions, which come as inflation and the price of oil skyrocket.
