Democrat Jumps Into Race for U.S. House

RED LODGE, Mont. (NMB) – Incumbent Republican U.S. Congressman Matt Rosendale will have competition in his bid for re-election in 2022.

Democrat Jack Ballard, a 58-year-old outdoor write from Red Lodge, has become the first major party candidate other than Rosendale to enter the race.

The seat is currently at-large for all of Montana, but is expected to represent eastern Montana once the Redistricting Commission in Helena finalizes the new Districts. Montana is gaining a new seat in Congress due to its increase in population over the last decade.

The seat that is expected to represent western Montana has already seen three Democrats and two Republicans file.
