Havre, MT – Sunday afternoon the Havre Northstars played a home double header against the Vauxhall spurs and split the games with lopsided scores, Losing game one 15-1 and winning game two 11-1.
Tanner DeLerosa struggled in game one, giving up 10 runs in the first inning. Quin Elliot took the mound in game two and only gave up one run. New Media Broadcasters caught up with Northstar head coach Ryan Divish about why the games were so drastically different.
“That was our first clunker of a game this season, … Vauxhall is good and they came in with a really solid game plan against Tanner. ” Divish remarked about game one execution.
“Honestly when we have a game that rough, that is something just so non-typical of how we play, it’s a little bit easier to wash it, and say this isn’t who we are, … and they did that really well, and Quinn Elliott did an excellent job executing the game plan.” Expressed Coach Divish on what he thought helped his team flip the script in game two.
The Northstars are first in the North district standings at 22-4. Vauxhall fell to third after the split with Havre, and the Northstars hold a four game lead in the loss column over the Lethbridge Lakers (18-8).
Wednesday The Northstars will take the field for the last time of the 2025 season. Coach Divish talked about the emotion that game against Lewistown will bring.
“There is always a lot of emotions and we have four seniors that have played together for a long time, I think the big thing will be controlling those emotions.” Coach Divish said about the what the environment will be like and what it will take to win on Wednesday.
First pitch on senior night against the Lewistown Redbirds is at 5pm. The Northstars will follow up senior night with two road games to end the regular season on Saturday at Fort Mcleod and Sunday in Medicine hat against the Knights.
