(Havre) Trust land south of Havre is coming under new shooting restrictions following an order from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
Sands Lake will now be a firearm restricted area until October 1st, with the DNRC stating that the area is located near two county roads and three trust land sites that surround the lake itself, which is a popular recreation destination. For this reason, firearm use is a safety concern.
The DNRC makes an exception in the release to note that archery is still allowed in this area, and clarifies that the trust land located in Section 19 south of County Road 639 West is not currently restricted.
