DOT Grants Montana Tribes $3 Million for Roads

(Washington) – On July 20th the United States department of Transportation’s Federal highway Administration announced it will be awarding $20.9 million in grants to 88 Tribal projects that will reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries on tribal lands.

Of the grants from the Tribal Transportation Program Safety Fund over $3 million will go to tribes in Montana to help with projects to increase motor vehicle safety . these tribes are the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, Fort peck Assiniboine and Sioux tribes, The Blackfeet Tribe of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation of Montana, and the Chippewa Cree Indians of the Rocky Boys Reservation.
