HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office says that an inmate of their detention center has died of an apparent suicide.
A press release states that just after 11 AM on Saturday, a Detention Officer discovered an unresponsive inmate in his cell. The inmate, 25-year-old Benjamin Halverson of East Helena, was declared deceased after unsuccessful lifesaving measures were initiated.
The cause of death has been determined to be asphyxia due to hanging. The autopsy was performed by the State of Montana Pathologist in the Missoula Crime Lab.
