
HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The filing deadline has passed for the May 3rd school elections.
For Havre Public Schools, eight candidates have filed to fill two expiring three-year terms on the school board.
The candidates are:
- Shanetrice Allen
- Matt Antonich
- Jason Castillon
- Tyler Gibson
- Miranda Hencz
- Christin Hileman
- Erin Jensen
- Garrit Ophus*
*=incumbent
The other incumbent, Theresa Miller, did not file by the deadline.
The deadline for write-in candidates and for candidates to withdraw is Thursday, March 31st at 5 PM.
Ballots will be mailed out on April 13th.
Election day is Tuesday, May 3rd, and all-ballots must be received at the Robins Building by 8 PM that day and have a valid signature on the affirmation envelope to be counted.
There is also an Elementary General Fund Levy on the ballot. The language of the levy is:
Shall the district be authorized to impose an increase in local taxes to support the general fund in the amount of $39,947.00 which is approximately 1.70 mills for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Elementary. Passage of this proposal will increase the taxes on a home with a market value of $100,000 by approximately $2.30 and on a home with a market value of $200,000 by approximately $4.59. The durational limit of the levy is permanent once approved by the voters, assuming the district levies that amount at least once in the next five years.
