HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The third annual Blanket Drive held by the Havre Elks Lodge was a hit, with over 300 blankets, bedding and comforters being donated for those in need. Elks Secretary Brandy Kurtz says any remaining blankets have been donated.
“All the rest was all bagged. I took a bag and a box to the animal shelter and I have three bags that are going to the Eagles Manor, because they have reached out to us and said that almost all their residents could use a blanket or two.”
Kurtz says they plan on continuing this program and will accept blankets all year round.
“We will take blankets and bedding throughout the whole entire year, so it’s not just for Thanksgiving and Christmas. So if people out there, after Christmas, they get some new bedding or whatever and they want to donate their old stuff, they can get a hold of me, bring it here to Western Trailer Sales, or drop it off at the Elks. We take it all year long and just accumulate it until November.”
Kurtz says their first distribution in November attracted about 30 people needing blankets, but Wednesday night’s distribution only saw five people.
