(Montana) The US Environmental Protection Agency warned John Deere that their equipment manuals prohibiting the repair of emissions control systems by anyone other than Deere authorized dealers may have been against the law.
The Montana Farmers Union is calling this “another victory” in the fight for farmers’ “right to repair”, stating that the fact that John Deere even acknowledged the EPA requirement legitimizes their avocation.
Those involved in the right to repair advocacy involves requiring equipment manufacturers, like John Deere, to provide necessary tools for farmers to use third-party repair shops or even to repair their equipment on their own.
