Eureka Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash

LINCOLN COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A 50-year-old man from Eureka was killed in a crash on Friday afternoon after his vehicle collided with a boulder after crashing over a guardrail in Lincoln County.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 2:59 PM on National Forest Road 92, when a northbound Chevy Silverado failed to properly negotiate a sharp left turn and collided with the guardrail. The vehicle went over the guardrail and down a steep talus slope. The Silverado then collided with a boulder before coming to rest and catching on fire.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are all not suspected factors in the crash.

The road was bare and dry.
