(Dodson) – The Montana Farmers Union is bringing their Farmers Share program to the Phillips County Fair in Dodson on Saturday. Mary Jenni, Montana Farmers Union Ambassador for Central and Northeastern Montana told New Media Broadcasters what the Farmers Share Program is and how they will be demonstrating this at the Fair on Saturday.
“The Farmer’s Share refers to a portion of the retail price of a food item that actually goes to the farmer who produced the raw ingredient. For example, on Saturday at the Phillips County Fair we are selling cheeseburgers that day in collaboration with the 4H food booth for seventy-five cents, which is the farmer’s share of a cheeseburger.”
Normally a Cheeseburger at the 4-H Chuckwagon during the Phillips County Fair is $6.50. The Montana Farmer’s Union will pay the full cost of the Cheeseburgers to Phillips County 4-H, minus the 75 cents from consumers on Saturday during lunch.
