HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Feed My Sheep Community Soup Kitchen continues to serve free lunch six days a week in Havre.
Supervisor-Coordinator Doris Hanson says they are offering both grab-and-go and sit down meals Monday through Saturday, and they are feeding an average of 50-60 people a day.
“We still have a lot of people that are shy or leery of the COVID thing. So we are doing just as many take-outs as dine ins.”
Hanson says they continue to look for a few more volunteers.
The volunteer hours are from 10 until 1. Some days we have three, some days we have four. A couple days we only have two. We would like a few more volunteers on those days. Because (our volunteers) are all senior citizens. So I don’t like to work my people as hard as I do on some days. I realize it is a volunteer position. When you’re on your feet for three hours at a time, it kind of takes a toll on us.”
Hanson says that the renovations to the employee bathroom have been completed, with funds coming from their recent rummage sale.
In the spring, they plan to replace the four front windows thanks to a grant from the Hill County Community Foundation.
