Two Rooms Burned in College Park Plaza Fire

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Sunday morning fire caused significant damage to the College Park Plaza in Havre.

Havre Fire Chief Mel Paulson says they received a call of a fire at the building at 12:54 AM Sunday morning.

The fire was under control by 1:11 AM, but crews remained on scene until 3:54 AM to mop up and begin the investigation.

Two rooms suffered flame damage, while smoke damage was sustained throughout the building.

Along with 13 personnel, three trucks and one ambulance from the Havre Fire Department, authorities with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office and Havre Police Department were also on scene.

The building, located at the intersection of 11th Street West and Kennedy Avenue, has been vacant since January 2018 after being condemned by the city.

Paulson credits fire resistant material of the building from preventing the flames from spreading further.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
