(NMB) The respiratory illness season is in full swing. Cascade County health officials announced that two residents under the age of 70 died from influenza in the final days of 2025 and cases are on the rise statewide. New Media Broadcasters spoke with Hill County Chief Health Officer Kim Berg recently and she reminded us the best way to prevent the spread respiratory illness.
“Wash your hands frequently, hot water and soap is ideal. If you don’t have that use hand sanitizer. Stay home when you’re sick, cover your cough and as always get your yearly flu and covid vaccinations.”
There have been more than 2000 flu cases reported statewide. Statistics show 85% of those hospitalized with the flu were over the age of 50
