(Havre) – With the Havre Community Food Bank receiving a donation of 1500 pounds of beef New Media broadcaster sat down with Joscelyn Smith the District 4 HRDC Emergency Services Specialist who oversees the Food Bank to ask how the donation would help.
“It’s going to help out tremendously our clients are really in needing food right now and with this donation I’m going to able to put more meat inside of the boxes that we will be giving out to our families.”
We also asked how many people the food bank normally has get food from them.
“That all depends on a daily basis we can have up to 60 people in the building. with both our monthly and bimonthly food boxes we can see about an average of 130 families a month. It’s been growing due to the high food prices and getting closer to the holiday season; people are needing food a little bit more.”
We finished by asking how the food bank works.
“Anyone in Hill County, you have to live in Hill County to come to our food bank. Anybody can come in and get our bakery and our produce. Bimonthly boxes you get does go off that income and how many people are in your family and that you have to live in Hill County. 1005 of us are donations that’s the way my associate and I get paid we mostly rely on volunteers, and they come from local churches or individuals that just come in every day to help us out. We are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 to 1pm.”
