Forest Officials Remind Visitors to Help Prevent Wildfires This Holiday Weekend

BOZEMAN, Mont. — As Montanans celebrate the Fourth of July, the Custer Gallatin National Forest is reminding visitors to help prevent wildfires.

Officials note that 9 out of 10 wildfires nationwide are caused by humans, including half on national forests.

Fireworks are prohibited on all national forest lands, and visitors are urged not to drive or park on dry grass.

Campfires should be built only in designated areas and never left unattended.

Officials also advise practicing safe target shooting and checking for local fire restrictions before heading out.
