(Washington D.C.) – Earlier this week former Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson was confirmed by the United States Senate to become the next U.S. Marshall for the District of Montana. This position oversees operations of the U.S. Marshals Service in the state including protecting courts, transporting prisoners, pursuing fugitives, and serving federal arrest warrants.
Craig Anderson served as Dawson County Sheriff from 2003-2014, and he served as Chief Probation Officer for Montana’s Seventh Judicial District from 1979 until 2003. Anderson has a long history of being involved with justice initiatives in Montana, including serving as a member of the Montana Board of Crime Control, a member of the Youth Justice Council, Chairman of the State Juvenile Detention Task Force, President of the Montana Probation Officers’ Association, and President of the Montana Correctional Association.
