FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Indian Community Council has announced the extension of the partial shutdown of the Reservation through February 18th.
The shutdown initially went into place on October 2nd, and has now been extended several times. It was modified to a partial shutdown in early December to allow stores to remain open until 8 PM and to allow alcohol sales.
The curfew, travel restrictions, and quarantine and isolation restrictions will remain in place.
Reasons listed in the resolution for extending the partial shutdown include the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Dodson and the “new threats of a virus mutation.”
As of Thursday evening, the Fort Belknap Indian Community has reported a total of 389 COVID-19 cases. 30 are active, none are hospitalized. 12 Reservation residents have died from COVID-19 complications.
