FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Community Council has voted 8-0 for the Reservation to remain in Stage 3 of their reopening plan through February 5th.
In the resolution, the Council said that the recent surge in cases, including those of the Omicron COVID variant, poses a threat to them fully re-opening at this time.
The plan may be modified as the situation changes, and an update will be provided by Incident Command within the next two weeks.
Fort Belknap moved into Phase 3 of reopening on November 30th, with an initial ending date of January 2nd.
Businesses can operate at their normal hours but mask mandates remain in place except when eating or drinking. Refreshments can now be served at casinos.
Local Fort Belknap transportation buses and local gyms and community centers are now allowed to operate at 75 percent capacity.
Essential activities are now allowed without approval from local Disaster and Emergency Services.
The Council continues to strongly encourage the community to mask up and social distance.
As of January 7th, there were two active COVID cases on the Fort Belknap Reservation.
