Fort Belknap schools receive Nita Lowey Grant.

(Fort Belknap) The Fort Belknap community was recently made one of 13 school systems to receive a grant award from the Montana Office of Public Instruction as part of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant.

This grant awards between $70,000 and $250,000 a year for five years to its recipients with the focus being on math and reading programs, according to Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen.

Funds are awarded in full during the first three years of the grant. During the fourth year, CCLC funds will pay 80 percent of the original award. During the fifth and final year of the grant, CCLC funds will pay 70 percent of the original award.
