Fort Benton conducting Lead and Copper Inventory survey.

(Fort Benton) As first reported by The River Press, residents of the Fort Benton may have recently received mailing about the City of Fort Benton Lead and Copper Inventory Survey.

This inventory is required by the EPA and Montana Department of Environmental Quality as part of a nationwide effort to replace lead service lines.

Homes built in 1988 or newer would not have lead materials. Fort Benton water tests have not shown lead concerns; this would only be on an individual basis if a home happened to have old lead lines.

Those with questions are asked to contact the Fort Benton public works department by calling city hall at the number 406-622-5494.
