HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited is collecting old Christmas Trees to sink into the Fresno Reservoir to help improve the spawning habitat for perch and other fish. Chapter President Nate Molstad says they have done this for three years in a row now and the project has been successful.
“The City has provided a container for us at Memorial Park. That’s just off of 5th Avenue, across from the softball complex so folks can drop them off there. We’ll bundle and place the Christmas trees sometime early spring, late winter here in the next couple months.”
Molstad is worried they may not collect the 100 to 125 trees they have collected in the past, as there weren’t many tree vendors in the Havre area this year. The container will be available for about two weeks.
