HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Farm Service Agency wants to remind producers about the USDA Market Facilitation Program deadline of January 15th, 2019. Havre FSA Executive Director Russell Snedigar says producers must come in to their local FSA office and fill out the application, if they have not done so already.
“At the end of August, the President instructed the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue, to make sure our farmers did not bear the brunt of unfair, retaliatory tariffs. USDA has authorized up to $12 billion in programs. The Farm Service Agency would like to remind all producers about the Trump tariff relief program deadline and the deadline is January 15th, 2019.”
Snedigar says that producers need to tell the FSA what shares belong to them and what belongs to their landlords.
“We’re just trying to make sure that we give all the producers in the area the opportunity to come in and sign up for the program payment, because you have to have an application on file in order to be eligible for payments. So if you are coming into the office, make sure that you break out which shares are 100% to you and if you have landlords, make sure you break out their percentages.”
Snedigar says that they are in the process of issuing a second payment for producers who have already signed up. Producers who have not signed up yet will receive one large payment.
