HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A local fundraiser is set for this Saturday in Havre to help fund the care for foster dogs and cats.
For a free will donation, you can have your dogs nails trimmed from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday at Hair of the Dog Grooming, 215 5th Avenue in Havre.
Havre resident Shannon Bergren says that along with a couple of friends, she has been taking care of animals for about two years due to the overflowing population of local shelters.
“On average I’d like to say they stay with us for about a month. once they get through the two week quarantine and can get (spayed/neutered) then they are off to either a shelter or their new home.”
Bergren estimates she’s cared for nearly 200 animals in total. She says she is in regular contact with local shelters around the Hi-Line.
“Basically we just kind of network together, mostly, you know. If they get a call but don’t have time, we go out and get (the animal). Or vice-versa.”
All money raised goes towards medical care and other needs for the foster animals.
