The Havre Blue Ponies Football season is sadly over. The Ponies, however, have a lot to be proud of and build off of. Head Coach Jake Eldridge took over the program that had not seen a winning season since 2016. The previous 2 years the Blue Ponies had a combined record of 4-11, and in his first season Coach Eldridge finished the season 6-5 with a 6-4 regular season record.
New Media Broadcasters sat down with Coach Eldridge and reflected on his first year. He couldn’t stop talking about how proud he was of his team.
“I’m really proud of these guys, proud of their commitment to this team and to me. I am really proud of the growth they made from day one till then end of this season. They knew they could be special if they worked and did what they were supposed to do, and they did that.” – Eldrige
After such a successful first year, Coach Eldridge talks about culture and identity he wants the Blue Ponies to establish.
“These kids followed our lead, and always came back asking for more. That’s what it’s all about. We always talked to our guys about giving great effort, great attitude, staying humble, and staying hungry all the time. That’s going to be the identity of our program.” – Eldridge
The season ended earlier than hoped, but the future is bright. Coach Eldridge is establishing himself as a successful coach and the team has bought in.
