(Kalispell) – Montana FWP is asking anglers to report Northern Pike caught or observed in the Bull River in Sander County.
FWP received a report that a pike was observed in the river south of Bull Lake near Noxon and fisheries biologist confirmed this by removing the fish.
This is believed to be the result of illegal introduction which can have significant negative impacts on lakes and rivers. The loss of recreational fishing opportunities and a collapsing ecosystem are can be consequences of such illegal introductions, particularly as pike are aggressive predators and can rapidly deplete the populations of smaller fish.
Please contact fisheries biologist, Travis Rehm, at 406-382-3032 if any northern pike are observed in the Bull River.
