FWP Asks to Look Out for Greater Short Horned Lizards

(Glasgow) – Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks is advising all hikers and recreationists to be on the look out for the Greater Short Horned Lizard this fall.

The greater short- horned lizard was once considered the second most abundant reptile along the Missouri River in Montana in the late 19th Century, second only to the western rattlesnake. Currently, however, these lizards are considered a ‘Species of Greatest Inventory Need’ in Montana due to insufficient data on their population and distribution.

If you see one FWP asks that you contact your local office and report it.
