Governor Appoints Christy Clark as Agriculture Director

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte has announced the appointment of Christy Clark as the director of the Montana Department of Agriculture.

Clark had been serving as acting director since May 2021 after Mike Foster temporarily left the agency to serve as the state’s ARPA program director. Foster retired in October 2021, so Clark continued to serve as acting director before being appointed to head the agency.

Clark is a native of the town of Choteau and a fifth-generation rancher. She has previously served the department in roles such as deputy director, agricultural sciences administrator, and agricultural development and marketing bureau chief.

In a press release Monday, Gianforte said Clark “understands the challenges and opportunities our producers face,” and is committed “to strengthening and supporting our state’s number one industry.”
