HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fair Board met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday evening in the Timmons Room at the Hill County Courthouse.
During the 80 minute meeting, a variety of topics were discussed, and several were voted on by the board.
There was a lengthy discussion on potential renovations to the Bigger Better Barn. Initially, a motion was made to get bids and begin a project to have new insulation work on the barn from the ceiling down to the plywood and replace the southwest and east doors. Before the votes were cast, a board member said that new insulation may not be necessary, and that simply updating the aesthetics of the barn could be cheaper.
The vote was tied 3-3, so Chairman Tyler Smith cast the deciding vote. He voted yes for getting bids from contractors, but no to going forward with the project until they have a better idea of the cost for potential options.
The board voted unanimously to approve purchasing and installing new plastic fence posts on the south and west sides of the fair.
There were discussions of what to do with the old Museum building. One idea that many were in agreement with was to use it for storage, but no official action was taken.
The next Fair Board meeting is scheduled for February 18th.
