The Havre basketball teams swept Dawson County from the Blue Pony Corral on Friday night. The girls won, (73-32), while the boys came from behind to get a (69-59) victory.
For the girls’, (9-3) they snapped a two-game losing streak. Havre went on a (24-6) run in the 2nd quarter and turned up the defensive pressure. Sophomore forward Sierra Parker was the leading scorer for the Lady Ponies with 20 points. Sophomore guard Amaya Jarvis chipped in 13 points and sophomore forward Ariana Gary scored 11 1st half points.
For the boys’ (9-3), they battled back after starting off the first quarter down (7-0) and (11-2). The Ponies were able to get back into it with a (21-11) 2nd quarter and took control of their identity from there with 3-pointers galore and defensive pressure. Junior point guard Tre Gary led all scorers with 20 points. Senior guard Jackson Headdress went off in the third quarter, scoring 11 of his 16 in the stanza.
The Blue Ponies will have another game at home on Saturday when they take on Hardin. Senior festivities for the boys will begin a little before 4pm and the girls game will follow around 5:30pm and you can listen on KOJM-610AM and HiLineToday.com with Kyle Leeds broadcasting the action.
