Havre City Council Announces Support for Proposed Splash Park

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre City Council convened on Monday night at City Hall and formally announced their support of an effort to construct a splash park next to the Havre Community Pool.

Brett Patrick of the Natalie Patrick Foundation presented the proposal to the Council and says they will fund the construction costs for the project, estimated at around $350,000.

The City of Havre would be responsible for maintaining the Park, which would be 50-feet by 50-feet. The cost for maintenance is estimated at between $4,500-$5,000 annually.

Now that the Council has given their support towards the project, the Foundation is moving forward with planning and phasing. The hope is for ground to be broken this spring, with a grand opening in June of 2022.

Water used by the splash park would be recirculated, with a cleaning and filtering process included.

It has not yet been decided if there will be an entrance fee to the splash park.

Splash Parks are also commonly known as splash pads or aquatic playgrounds. They allow for children and families to interact with water features. People can play in splash parks without knowing how to swim, as there is little to no standing water.

The vote from the Council supporting the project was 6-0. Derek Eldridge and Ed Matter were not present.
