14 boys teams and 15 girls teams were on hand as the Havre Cross Country team held its invitational on Saturday at Prairie Farms. It was a fantastic result for both the boys and the girls as they each won the team competition. The Blue Ponies also honored their senior runners, Caleb Tomac, Zack May, Chloe Bricker, MacKenzie Dean, and Clara Haslem.
The Havre girls were able to edge out Glasgow for the win, with each getting a score of 38, followed by North Toole County (Sunburst), Chinook, and Fairfield rounding out the top-5. Ashlyn Ford continued to improve on her already-record pace, running a 5K in 19:27:10, good for second place overall in the individual competition. Neva Lowe finished sixth overall for the Sugarbeeters, running a 21:19:91 5K.
The Havre boys also edged Glasgow, but in more comfortable fashion, (31-44). Harlem, Fort Benton, and Chinook rounded out the top-5 in the competition. Tomac ran a personal best 5K time for Havre, finishing first overall at 15:59:07. Carson Nissen was the top finisher for Chinook, running a 21:05:06, which was good for first place in the JV competition.
Havre will run in the Lewistown Invite on Friday, September 15th. Chinook will be in the Glasgow Invitational in Fort Peck on Saturday, September 16th.
