(Havre) – Starting October 9th to October 13th the Havre Fire Department will be hosting an open house while in observation of Fire Prevention Week. Nathan Coutrnage the Havre Fire Department Fire Chief talks about Fire Prevention Week.
“So, the first week in October usually there’s Fire Prevention week that sponsored by the national fire protection association. This year it’s October 8th through the 13th. Fire prevention week has a campaign theme this year it’s ‘Cooking Safety Starts with You: Pay attention to Fire Prevention.”
He also talks about what will happen during the week.
“So, the Havre Fire Department will be hosting an open house in Conjunction with Fire prevention Week. We’re going to have tours of the fire station they’ll be done Monday October 9th through Friday October 13th from 3pm to 7pm. There will be daily drawing s for smoke detectors and there’s also items that were going to give out to the kids, Fire hats, coloring books stickers and there’s also refreshments available of cookies and coffee.”
He goes on by talking about the Fire Safety Puppet Show they are putting on.
“Yeah, so we’re going to present a Fire Safety Puppet Show to the area elementary schools. On October 16th were going to be doing the Headstarts in town and then on Wednesday October 18th we’re going to hit up the elementary schools around the area.”
He finishes by talking about what will happen during the show.
“Yeah, so it’s one show they put on a skit for the kids that has all kinds of information for them and it’s really fun. The kids enjoy it they give out a smoke alarm to each school and then hopefully we have a special guest that’s going to show up this year. So that will be fun to see.”
