(Keller Sherman) – The Havre Blue Ponies improved to (6-2) after an impressive road win at Sidney by a final score of (41-12). It was the fifth straight win for Havre.
The game began with both teams trading touchdowns twice. Tate Nelson opened the scoring on a 33-yard touchdown run, but the ensuing PAT missed to make it (6-0) in favor of Havre. Sidney marched right down the field with a 60-yard touchdown run of their own, but their PAT also missed as the game was tied (6-6). The Blue Ponies answered right back and made the PAT this time to take a (13-12) lead that they would not relinquish. The Eagles scored yet again on their next possession, but failed to tie things up and Havre went right back down the field and made it a two-possession game after a two-point conversion (21-12).
From that point on, it was all Blue Ponies. Griffin Terry would add one more score in the first half to give Havre a (28-12) lead going into the locker room. Coming out of the break, Havre added two more scores to take a commanding (41-12) lead, which would prove to be the final score. With the outcome all but certain, Jake Eldridge gave reps to his younger players and Sidney was able to keep the Blue Ponies out of the end zone the entirety of the fourth quarter.
After spoiling the Eagles’ senior night, Havre will return home for their own senior night next Friday as they play host to the Fergus Golden Eagles to close out the regular season.
